Are you an entrepreneur?
I read with envy the article on entrepreneurial opportunities at ISU (fall 2009). As a ’79 graduate I had no idea what an entrepreneur was. All I knew
was I wanted to own my own business. Well, almost 30 years later I finally took the plunge and interestingly I combined the two things I studied while in Ames: marketing and fish and wildlife biology. A very strange combination, but it has worked out. I’m certainly willing to share my experiences and get
involved any way I can. Great article – keep up the good work.

Dispatch from Thailand
On our first full day we’re walking around Koh San Road, which is a big road lined with shops and restaurants and bars, pretty much one giant tourist
trap, which is right down the way from our guesthouse/hotel. The shops sell everything, like
shirts, watches, bags, sunglasses, pretty much any touristy junk you can imagine. We’re in one of the larger stores and I’m shopping for a t-shirt when my
friends start frantically calling my name. I walk out to see what’s the matter and they’re standing by a big wall with hundreds of handbags...Dolce and Gabana, Louis Vuitton, all sorts of designer crap, and right
in the middle is a Cyclone one, the old logo. We were floored. There were no other sports teams or sports themed bags anywhere in sight, and there was a big blue bag with a bright Cy on it. We took lots of pictures. Let me repeat, as far as we can tell
there is one sports bag in all of Bangkok, and it is a Cyclone bag. We’ve been looking in all the other shops we’ve been in, and we haven’t seen any college stuff
at all. Cy must have lots of street cred here in Bangkok.
