There's nothing like a day at the zoo. But how about a lifetime?
A surprising number of Iowa Staters have
careers at zoos and aquariums across the country, and not always in the most obvious roles. They are veterinarians, animal keepers, and curators, yes, but also photographers, directors of special events, managers of education, and nutritionists.
They work in conservation, in public relations,
and in breeding programs.
VISIONS chose six alumni – at the Saint Louis Zoo,
Houston Zoo, Bronx Zoo, Zoo Atlanta, Mandalay Bay Shark Reef Aquarium in Las Vegas, and the Blank Park Zoo in
Des Moines – to tell us about the “wild life.”
